When the coronary arteries are blocked it is called the coronary artery disease. One of the most common symptoms of this condition is angina. Angina is a condition in which the chest hurts and due to the lack of oxygen and blood supply to the heart muscles. It feels like someone is applying pressure on your chest by squeezing it. |
The pain can be also felt in the arms, neck and the jaw by some people. As a person becomes more active the pain seems to get worse. One of the common causes to trigger this pain is emotional stress.
Another symptom of the coronary artery disease is shortness of breath. This occurs usually when the disease ends up with a heart failure. When the heart fails, it is unable to pump enough blood into the body. Due to this, the fluid starts building up in the lungs and you find it very difficult to breathe. This symptom can be severe or mild. If the plaque continues to build up in the coronary arteries, then the symptom usually can be severe.
There is also a condition called the silent CAD or coronary artery disease. In this condition, you will not experience any kind of symptoms. The condition itself is diagnosed only when the person has a heart failure. Sometimes, the person is diagnosed with arrhythmia or irregular rhythm of the heart. A heart attack is a result of the plaque forming a blood clot in the coronary artery causing a severe blockade in the path.
