What Are The Symptoms Of Acute Coronary Syndrome ?

If a person is prone to heart disease, then any sign or symptom of chest pain should be considered serious. There are some classic symptoms of the acute coronary syndrome. Most of the symptoms are associated with pain and discomfort of some or the other kind.

An acute coronary syndrome is a condition where the arteries that supply the heart with blood and oxygen are clogged. It is blocked with plaque or cholesterol due to excess fat in the body. The lack of oxygen and blood supply to the heart causes the heart muscles to dysfunction and they start hurting. It leads to chest pain.

The number one symptom experienced by all people who are suffering from the acute coronary syndrome is chest pain. Sometimes, stress can also trigger chest pain. The chest pain increases as the person becomes more active and seems to reduce when the person relaxes. This is the highest indication of a heart attack. The pain experienced seems like a crushing force or like someone is squeezing the chest. Some other symptoms associated with the chest pain are a tingling sensation, pressure on the chest and dizziness.

Some of the other common symptoms of an acute coronary syndrome are nausea, vomiting and cold sweats. It is very similar to indigestion or heartburn sometimes. Some people experience abdominal pain. However, most of the symptoms associated always occur along with chest pain. One of the most dangerous symptom is fainting which can immediately progress to death. A patient should be rushed to hospital the moment they faint or before that.
