He or she is expected to take critical care of patients without ignoring or neglecting them and also guard them against any life threatening eventualities. An intensive care nurse is licensed and specially trained for the job. They will be capable of providing acute care in case of emergencies.

A patient is considered critically ill when they are facing life threatening problems and are at high risk of losing their life. The more a person is ill the more they need critical care. Such patients are observed by the critical care nurses. The intensive care nurse job entails being extremely cautious, vigilant and reactive to situations.

The intensive care nurse works only in the intensive care units of hospitals and medical institutions. The job of a critical nurse is to make sure the patient is alive in a nut shell. They take care of patients through complex assessment procedures and also continuously monitor their condition. The nurses have specialized experience and knowledge in the subject area. The nurse will intervene with the medication when required, represent the patient individually, and monitor the quality of care given to the patient.
