Diseases That Affect The Brain

It is often seen that people misconstrue disorders related to brain as purely and psychological and believe that the person needs to be in a mental hospital.

But this is not the case. These diseases are caused by the neurological imbalance which can prove to be fatal. Some of the common disorders that affect humans are Alzheimer disease, Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy. One of the most life threatening diseases are strokes. It is the simple name for hemorrhages. The strokes are caused because of damage to the tissue. The tissue is damaged when brain is starved of blood or when it is not supplied with sufficient oxygen. There are 2 hemispheres in a brain. They are the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere.

A person who has his primary hand as right will be operated by his brains left hemisphere and vice versa. Thus if the tissue cells on the left hemisphere is affected then his entire right side of the body is susceptible to paralysis. The biochemical abnormalities can lead to trauma which is even more agonizing.

The modern technology like MRI which stands for magnetic resonance imaging and x rays have helped in detecting several such diseases. These diseases or disorders are non communicable by touch or in any other form but there are inherited from previous generations. They are considered to be contagious. Doctors still consider it one of the most complex organs in the human body after the liver.
