In 1995, 50% of the cancer patients have stayed alive for five years or more after undergoing numerous diagnoses and following the prescribed treatments. The American Cancer Society states that with early diagnosis and treatment, cancer deaths could be averted by 25-30%.
Nowadays, people have taken the initiative in getting themselves aware of the main cause of cancer and a lot have taken the steps to reduce the risk of cancer which includes the change of lifestyle. This is indeed a very good information because once this disease is detected, diagnosed and treated the soonest possible time, a lot of lives could be saved.
Cancer may affect many parts of the body and works differently according to its type and origin. Its causes may be external or internal. External factors are because of the following chemicals, radiation, tobacco and infectious organisms. On the other hand, internal factors may consist of immune conditions, inherited mutations and mutations that take place upon metabolism. Having a family history of cancer, it is always recommended to have a regular check up for screening and evaluation of cancer because the risk of having this is very high.
Just like any other disease, the change of unhealthy habits could decrease the number of deaths caused by cancer in a year. This includes eating the right foods, regular exercise, quitting from smoke and learning the art of stress management.
