What Is Dermatology ?

Dermatology is the study of skin and skin related conditions. All the diseases, infections and conditions that affect the skin are studied under dermatology.

Dermatology covers a vast variety of subject related to skin and is not limited to cancer and skin infections. It extends to hair, nails, fat, subcutaneous tissues, genital membranes, and ageing factors.There are several internal organs that affect the skin and the outward appearance of it. Dermatology related to all these organs and also involves studying about the organs. Skin is the largest human organ. It is affected by other organs like digestive system, liver, and kidneys. Any problem with internal organs can actually show up on the skin. For example, impure blood can show up as acne or pimples on the skin. Using the symptoms of the skin the doctor can study the problem of the internal organs.

Skin disease has become quite common and thousands of people every year are being diagnosed with skin conditions like melanoma and cancers in the United States. The main objective of the skin is to protect the body from germs and bacteria and also injury. That is why most of them suffer from some or the other kind of skin related problems. People always develop rashes, boils and other problems like excess sweating. All these skin related conditions exist because the skin is protecting the body.
