Degenerative Bone Diseases

Like any other things, bone as well undergoes a lot of changes.  They can be healed.  They can be affected by man’s diet and exercise.

Bones are still built and stored effectually even at the age of 30.  As man grows older, bones start to break down in steadfast motion compared to the formation of new bone. This takes place in every human as part of the physical aging progression.

During women’s menopausal stage, bone loss increases.  This is because women’s ovaries have stopped fabricating estrogen which is a hormone that guard opposed to bone loss.
One of the most common degenerative bone diseases is called Paget’s disease.  This type of degenerative bone disease is also called osteitis deformans.

Paget’s disease is described as the gradual focal disarray of bone remodeling wherein the bone is taken away and were exchanged with abnormal bone.  This type of disease is appraised to happen in about two to three percent of persons greater than 60 in the United States.  The origin of the so called Paget’s disease is not completely established yet but according to researchers, it may involve paramyxovirus infection and genetic factors.  To support that theory, a genetic locus for the vulnerability to Paget’s disease has been pinpointed on chromosome 18q in a large number of patients.

Paget’s disease includes any section of the skeleton such as the tibia, femur, spine, skull and pelvis.    It is said that pagetic osteoclasts are very broad and contains many more nuclei.
