Our eyes are one of the sense organ that is very important in our daily lives. As our age become older, our possibilities of having an eye disease is very high. |
Therefore, we should learn the things that will prevent this type of disease.We should eat a healthy and balanced meal daily. Foods that are rich in beta-carotene, vitamins E and C are good for our eyes. The most affordable food that should be part of our daily meal is carrots which are rich in beta carotene. Carrots are a forerunner of the essential vitamins needed by our eyes.
Regular exercise is also needed. Aside from improving our overall health condition, exercise can lessen the risk of growing problems like diabetes. Diabetes is another human disease which escalates our risk of having an eye disease.
We should avoid smoking because it increases our chances of having cataracts, macular degeneration and glaucoma.
Let us protect our eyes from the scorching sun which produces ultraviolet rays. Ultraviolet rays can develop cataract and muscular degeneration. Wearing sunglasses and a wide hat lessen our exposure to this and subsides our eye disease menace.
There is also an herb called Vaccinium myrtillus or bilberry which strengthens our eye capillaries, reestablish our eyes to a problem-free condition and counteract eye diseases and other infections.
Aspalathus linearis and Sutherlandia frutescens are anti-oxidents which assist in the maintenance of supplying essential nutrients to our eyes, blood and oxygen
It is also advisable to have a regular eye check up. As early as childhood, we should have our eyes checked.
