Alcohol has several adverse effects on the brain. On the whole, the effects of alcohol on the central nervous system has been noticed to be severe and adversary. When a person consumes alcohol the tissue in the brain contracts and causes a depression in the nervous system. |
When the alcohol through the blood low reaches the brain, it can stop the communication between the nerve cells and starts interacting with the receptors of these cells. It causes several reactions in the brain unnecessarily. As a result the person can start feeling sluggish. Beverage alcohol contains a substance called ethyl. This particular substance reacts directly with the central nervous system just like sedatives and anesthetics.
Alcohol starts affecting the though process and people who are under its effect can start talking freely. Also, people may get more emotional and they can become a target of impaired thinking. Sense of judgment becomes impaired and that is why people who have had alcohol should not drive. It also slows down the activity in the brain tremendously. After a certain point of time, alcohol becomes a stimulating factor and this is when the person falls prey to addiction. Addiction is also a weakness which is affected by the central nervous system. At this level the person cannot think clearly, experiences slow reactionary levels, poor eye sight, hearing and also fatigue.
Though not all conditions are caused by the central nervous system, most of them are related to it. The worst side effect of alcohol on the central nervous system is that cells begin to die.
