Nicotine affects some of the core processes in the brain at a biochemical and neurophysiologic level. In simpler terms, it means that the presence of nicotine in nervous system can directly affect the functioning of several body parts and also the cell division. These kinds of effects are so gradual that a person cannot even keep a track of changes.
Smoking everyday causes some amount of damage to the nervous system, and on prolonged usage of tobacco, the effects may get worse.
