The nervous system is made up of the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system consists of the Brain and the spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system consist the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous system. |
The nervous system is one of the most complicated systems of the human body to understand. It has millions of complex functions and most of them take place in a clandestine manner. It is impossible to tell which reaction is caused by what nerve cell of the brain.
The nervous system is located in a well guarded place of the brain and is protected from most external injuries. It is protected by the hard skull and layers of cushioning in the form of tissues and blood walls. However, this does not mean that the nervous system is completely immune and cannot be affected by diseases or disorders. There are several disorders and diseases that can affect the central nervous system. Some affect younger children and others affect the elderly. Even adults are prone to nervous system disorders.
